BACKTRACKING
After 2020 racial justice protests and criticism of Penn State's progress on diversity, equity, and inclusion, the administration made a series of promises, including the creation of a new Center for Racial Justice.

Now, two years and a new administration later, the university is wavering on its commitment, telling faculty members that it has not allocated any funding.

The news comes as Penn State faces criticism for a student group's plan to host Gavin McInnes, the founder of the Proud Boys, as well as another controversial far-right speaker. The university has criticized the speakers but refused to ban or cancel the event, citing First Amendment freedoms.
